Inspiration

I’ve been a copious amount of cake eater for several years now, having made my own and sometimes just bought a caterpillar cake from M&S, I would have my cake and then I would most certainly eat it. No regrets.

This year I decided I would begin to publish my culinary adventures online because every social media platform is over-flowing with ‘food porn’ and quite honestly it disappoints me when I click on something delicious on Pinterest and the link leads me no wiser to a recipe.

So of course I must start by talking about the inspiration that led me to Cakey Katie Kay. Firstly my friend’s excellent and fast growing business: Darling Cakes by Bridie or Bridie’s Cakes.

This stunning cake appears on Bridie’s Website and Facebook page (links to both will be at the bottom of the post) and quite honestly is a modern masterpiece. EVERYTHING is edible, EVERYTHING! Is that not the most mind-blowing aspect of this cake after the fact she has masterfully crafted a designer watch from cake. Honestly so impressive, so beautiful and all handmade! But it doesn’t stop there!!

Legit a Chanel bag also made from all cake and it is all edible!! There simply aren’t enough exclamation points in the world to emphasise how truly incredible this cake is. It’s really beyond inspiring and just looks delicious and fashionable; when would Wintour ever let those two words in a sentence together?! Of course Bridie’s talent and skill doesn’t end there, she was also featured in Stylist Magazine.

All of those beauty products are CAKE! oh surely you get the picture? This is no Cake Boss with spinning plates, fireworks and sheet cake! This is real hand-made sophisticated cake making with all the trimmings, which has really inspired me to get my oven mitts on and bake what my momma gave me.

Masterpiece cakes are not all that Bridie can do, she also creates some pretty Pre-Raphaelite cupcakes if I may be so bold. Swirling, floral, delicate and feminine and can be made to suit whatever occassion.

In light of the beauty and wonder we have experience today my next post will either be an embarrassing attempt at some of the most dreamy cakes in Essex or i’ll make some sick rice krispie cakes, basic but the best.
